Congratulations on the launch of the Search for Innovative Philippine Human Rights Initiatives or, in Filipino, KARAPATAN SA MALIKHAING PARAAN.

The main objective of this endeavour is to bring together social innovators from all the over the country to compete for funding and to share their knowledge and experience in human rights issues.

Furthermore, this competition is not only intended to identify and fund projects with a high potential for development impact, but also to serve as a venue where grassroots organizations of the vibrant Philippine civil society can interact and exchange ideas on how to better respond to the urgent issues of poverty and human rights violations.

I am very pleased to say that not only States but also civil society, represented here by The Asia Foundation, and an independent public office, the Commission on Human Rights, headed by its hard-working Chairperson, Hon. Leila M. De Lima, can come together to effectively address current global problems, which can only be solved through the joint efforts of all stakeholders.

I commend all the organizers, participants and stakeholders, and wish them great success in this innovative project.
