Innovating thinking is vital in human rights work, and we’re
very hopeful that grassroots organisations will take this
opportunity to do things they wouldn’t otherwise be able to.
That’s why the group has made the application process as
simple and as intuitive as possible — to encourage those sorts
of organisations to feel comfortable in making applications.
We’re very much looking forward to seeing all the
applications. We think there are people out there with bright
and innovative ideas, and we’re really hoping they come
forward and prove us right.
The New Zealand Human Rights Commission already works very
closely with its Philippine counterpart, the Commission on
Human Rights of the Philippines, under a memorandum of
agreement that was signed in 2008. We hope that the innovation
marketplace will allow New Zealand to help out even more in
the human rights area.
